This piece was cheekily titled Twin Flames because, truthfully, I happened to be watching the Twin Flames documentary while painting it. That coincidence stuck with me, and while the documentary’s content had nothing to do with the emotion behind this piece, the phrase itself felt perfect. Twin flame to me refers to a deep and intense soul connection, two individuals who are mirrors of each other, bound not by circumstance but by something spiritual and profound. Unlike soulmates, which are often thought of as complementary and peaceful, twin flames are seen as passionate, transformative, and sometimes chaotic. They reflect each other’s strengths and weaknesses, igniting emotional growth through their bond.

That idea of passionate intensity inspired the imagery in this painting: two nude figures holding one another, vulnerable yet glowing, as if made of fire. Their vivid skin is meant to symbolize flames dancing and intertwining. Their embrace isn’t just about love; it’s about being seen completely, even in imperfection. It’s about the kind of connection that burns bright and cannot be ignored. The nakedness of the figures is symbolic of emotional openness. There is no armor here, just two souls exposed, finding warmth and unity in one another. While the background remains subdued, the figures glow with their own light, like twin flames meeting in the dark.
