This painting features a large saxophone rendered in black and white, set against a musical background. Flowers creep out from the instrument’s pipe and bloom between its buttons, softening the mechanical with the organic. The idea of the flowers emerging from the saxophone was actually inspired by Hay Day decorations. I created this painting for my mother to hang beside our piano at home. It’s one of her favorites, which makes it especially meaningful to me. The combination of materials were chosen to bring a tactile richness and warmth to the piece.
