Funny story, my mom once asked if this was a painting of her and my brother Keenan. I don’t think she realized both figures are nude… so there’s that. Despite the awkward moment, this piece remains one of my personal favorites. The two bodies are entwined, yet seem to dissolve into the abstract nebula-like background, almost as if they’re being pulled into another realm. While the flowing, cosmic design is similar to a poured painting, I actually painted each shape and bubble by hand. I wanted the forms to feel intentional rather than randomized, like the figures are suspended in a dreamscape of controlled chaos.
Symbolically, this piece speaks to duality, of warmth and coolness, of grounded emotion and celestial distance. The figures are united in an embrace that feels both protective and fragile, as if they’re anchoring each other within the swirling unknown. The nebula backdrop suggests something cosmic and timeless, a connection beyond the physical world. This painting could represent the kind of love or bond that transcends space and form where even in the vast chaos of the universe, two beings find each other and hold on. It’s about tenderness, balance, and the quiet power of emotional gravity.
