Many things inspired this painting, but most of all by Melanie Martinez’s album Portals. She’s one of my favourite artists, not just for her sound but for her deeply creative and symbolic visuals. I wanted to capture that same sense of eerie beauty and surreal fantasy in this piece. The fairy exists somewhere between dream and nightmare, shrouded in moonlight and shadow. She’s a guardian of the unknown, mysterious, and magical, embodying the darker side of transformation. Like Martinez’s work, this painting invites the viewer into a world where vulnerability and power coexist.
