This piece was inspired by one of my all-time favorite animated series: Steven Universe. While the show is rich with plot, symbolism, and unforgettable characters, it was the art, especially the architecture and color palettes, that captivated me most. In one particular episode, Steven and the Crystal Gems visit a place called the Lunar Sea Spire. My attention was captured by the striking visual world of the spire: ethereal colors, towering structures, and this dreamy, otherworldly atmosphere that felt like a forgotten temple suspended in time. I felt the need to reimagine it in my own style, one that leaned more toward a lifelike rendering while still holding onto the dreamlike quality of the original. I poured a lot of myself into this painting, which is why it remains one of my all-time favorites. It blends my love for animation, architecture, and emotion into a space that feels both distant and familiar.
