This pair of paintings, which I created as part of a request from a friend, is inspired by the beauty of nature in its most serene and untouched form. One depicts a quiet lake in the evening, the surface frozen and still after sunset, while the other captures the majesty of mountains under a starlit sky.
When I asked Garrett, the client, about the significance of the images, he simply said, "I don’t know, paradise." This simple answer struck me deeply, as it perfectly encapsulates the feeling I wanted to convey, an idealized vision of peace, calm, and purity that nature often evokes. While the scenes themselves may be simple, with no obvious symbolism or complexity, they are full of feeling. I hope viewers find their own interpretation of what paradise means in these quiet, reflective landscapes. Whether it’s the stillness of the lake, the towering majesty of the mountains, or the vast expanse of the night sky, each scene invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the world around them, free of distractions, full of possibility, and as close to paradise as one might get.
