This was my very first attempt at working with oil paint, a medium I quickly discovered has a personality of its own. Unlike the fast-drying acrylics I’m used to, oils take their sweet time to dry, which forced me to slow down and approach the process with more patience. I wasn’t aiming for perfection with this one. Instead, I wanted to explore and have fun, let the paint guide me. The piece was loosely inspired by one of my favourite artists, Stephen Gibb, whose surreal and vibrant style always sparks something in me. That inspiration comes through in the sheep-shaped clouds, the psychedelic meadows, and the playful, dreamlike atmosphere.
My favourite part is the happy little sunflower right at the centre, a symbol of pure joy. It feels like a small sun in the middle of the painting, radiating warmth and movement, like it’s dancing. That sunflower became the heart of the piece, reminding me that even when experimenting or learning something new, there's always space for joy.
